complete thyroid blood panel thoroughly analyses thyroid hormone metabolism, including central thyroid gland regulation and activity, thyroid production and secretion, peripheral thyroid conversion, and thyroid autoimmunity. This test allows the doctors to pinpoint common imbalances that underlie a broad spectrum of chronic disorders.

This test reveals imbalances that often go undetected with more limited assessments. With this test. unbound levels of T4 and T3 are measured to reflect the bioactive portion of thyroid hormone. This assessment can identify not only overt hyper- and hypothyroidism, but subtle sub-clinical manifestations of thyroid dysfunction, such as autoimmune reactions and altered conversion of T4 into T3 leading to reverse T3 dominance. These metabolic abnormalities can trigger chronic symptoms, and promote the gradual development of degenerative disorders

Let me add to speedy that a thyroid test will NOT detect HIV, diabetes and cancer (other than maybe, thyroid). All those other diseases have their own tests. The simply; the thyroid test will tell you if you have too much, too little thyroid hormone or just right.
