What are the negative side effects of taking LSD?!

Question: I do not have the intention of taking the drug and even if I did I would not have the means to acquire it. I'm simply curious of how this drug has affected users negatively.

The subjective effect of LSD is that it turns off the filters that let you ignore routine things. The part of the mind that recognizes patterns starts recognizing patterns in everything; the tiniest sound, though no louder than before, becomes as easily noticed as any other sound. It can seem that everything is connected in new and miraculous ways ... but it's just everything coming through all at once without prioritization.

In a quiet environment, this can be a wonderful, even uplifting experience. In a noisy, chaotic environment, it can be hellish.

The greatest pitfall for most trippers is that they confuse the intensity of the experience with validity: It seems so much purer, so it must be real. -- er, no -- it's just all your senses cranked up to 11!

For most trippers, the body's normal metabolic routines eventually restore normal reality, but a very tiny minority never come back. They have a metabolic quirk that just can't handle LSD.

As a tool for studying perception in a carefully monitored setting, LSD can have benefits. As entertainment, a casual indulgence, it is just foolhardy.

Then there's always the issue of it being illegal anymore, and the kind of people you have to deal with to get illegal things...

"The physical effects include dilated pupils, higher body temperature, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweating, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, dry mouth, and tremors."

I would say the altered senses (like synesthesia, visual morphing of your surroundings) can make you feel crazy (aka a bad trip)
I don't think you can overdose from it. You might have a hangover. Lose like a couple days recovering from it.

Uhmmm let me think negative for a second, ok you can probably die because you can hallucinate and jump off a bridge or something else really high. I seen this once, somebody doing LSD thought they would go swimming and dove off a high board into an empty pool.. Oh wait that was a commercial that used to be on tv.

LSD poses very little physical threat. The real danger is having a bad trip. Although unlikely, it can cause severe fear and flashbacks can occur from these bad trips.
