How do I increase my energy level?!

Question: I always am so tired and exhausted. I sleep ten hours each night, and still take a nap for a few hours every day. On an average day I sleep about 10 hours when I have to work and about 14 when I don't. And when I am awake, the only thing I can do is lay on the couch, cause everything else takes so much effort. I don't clean my house but every week or so cause I don't have the energy to wash the dishes (or my clothes). I'll put off little things cause I can't get the energy to do them (like make dinner or such).

I don't know what to do, but it sucks. I've gone to a doctor for medicine, and they tell me I'm too young (24) to need anything. But I do! There are so many things I want to do with my life, but just don't have the energy to do them. I sometimes even call in sick to work, just because I can't get out of bed (and this is at 11 in the morning)!

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried exercise, but when I'm done working out, I just fall asleep. I'm really starting to worry..

All you lack is ENTHUSIAM! You are most likely bored to death. No medical problem.
You have no idea why you exist..Search for that reason.
Get excited about finding out why you are here and what you are suppose to be doing.
If you become of no use to anyone you will become extinct like the dinasaurs.

You may have a disorder which is causing this. You could have low blood sugar, a thyroid disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, among other things. You are not too young for these things. Go to a different doctor and explain. See if they will test your hormone levels and blood sugar(to get a true blood sugar reading you need to do a glucose tolerance test).

Try vitamins, too. Good luck.

Wow, I definitley have an idea or two for that matter. First of all you are sleeping way too much. You are an adult. 7-8 hours is your amount of sleep needed. More or less will definitley off set your body's productivity throughout it's awake time and seems it is doing exactly that with you. Also remember, if you start this new sleeping pattern with 7-8 hours of sleep do not expect results in the first few days. Your body needs a good 3-4 days to get used to the adjustment. After that you should feel better. Stop the napping throughout the day, that is just adding to your overall sleep time. If all this doesn't work I hope you are eating well balanced meals during your awake hours. By balanced I mean 3 meals spread out from when you wake up from your 7-8 hours...to mid day...and to dinner 2-3 hours before you goto sleep. Good luck, report back with any questions you have. All the best.

Do you have a deficiency in Vitamin D? I did and it took practically all of my energy to just do regular things like get dressed in the morning and make it to work. I found out through a blood test. She (the doctor) put me on a supplement. I feel so much better now. Look at the link below to see if this sounds like you. It says a lot, but you can skip to "causes and symptoms" first, then read the rest if it sounds like you.
