Most likely your doctor judge that it's not cancerous.

But, most likely when it is painful enough to the patient, doctor might consider to incise the lipoma, of course age of the patient and the position of lipoma come into consideration as well, when determining the danger to leave the lipoma there. Since you didn't provide any more details, what I will suggest is try to go and consult with other doctor. Since you were saying it's painful but the doctor don't want to take them out.

Add: Hi, I received your email.

I can't get your rough age again, most likely you are on 2nd decade of your life.
From your description, there is a high chance you are having angiolipomas variant, since they tend to be a lot and painful. However, something is a bit not right when you say it's giving you a bump feeling, since most of the time it will feel more like itchy or burning.

Okay, here's a very rough picture of how the doctor decide to take out the lipomas or not: From the patient's complaint, the doctor might somehow judge the type of lipoma, d dangerous one will have a foul smell/stench. After that, they usually have biopsy test to confirm that it's not cancerous, just to make sure.

Okay, I didn't realize you did the surgery already. Most of the time, lipomas spread to other places after surgery. What I mean by most of the time is there has been a lot of cases like that. That's why no doctors can guarantee that there won't be any recurrence of lipomas in other places after the surgery, as far as I've known, and it's not very cheap either.

Do you notice why I use "most likely" so often? It's because I can only try to give out opinion based on the details you were giving me, further more lipomas are not completely formulated yet in medical field... But those sentences that got no "most likely" in it are the truth. The indication that can be observed directly will be the size and the smell. When it's giving out foul stench, high chance it's dangerous. Surgical is an option when it's cancerous (which can be confirmed by biopsy test), or when the lipomas is oversize and giving constant pressure painful feeling at that particular point. For the second condition, currently there is no guarantee that after surgical, it won't spread to other places.

Ok, now for my opinion, there must be a reason when the doctor say to try to overcome the feeling. Most likely, the reason was that yours is not cancerous and thus not life-threatening, and he realized that by doing more surgical, you only waste your money. So, try to relax and not to think too much about it for some time. Do not think of any range of time that the pain will go away. But, if you really can not stand the pain anymore to the extent you can hardly sleep at night, i will suggest you to go back to the same doctor first. If he really can't help you, try go to another doctor. But remember, another surgery is not a 100% guarantee to make the lipomas gone.

Best of luck.
