I had my tonsils out when I was in my twenties...I also suffered from blood sepsis because of my tonsils & adnoids infection was so severe. I was very sick prior to surgery. But after surgery the road was all about better healthy days ahead. At first you are indeed sore...a very sore throat...I consumed only room temp liquids & then ice chips & jello at first. Then anything icy cool was inviting...within a day I was eating egg-drop soup for dinner(not HOT) & it felt oooh so good. Eventually you feel your throat healing & gradually soft foods are the next thing down to the tummy! Yogurts, cottage cheese,etc... You will surely have a sore throat but it heals quickly! Your first post-op day you will want to rest...sleep & allow your body to recouperate. IF your lil one can be cared for then I highly suggest that at least the first day DO SO! Then see how you feel the next...being up & down caring for a little one that age requires too much for you after such surgery & can cause you not to heal as readily or even unneccessary setbacks...Just take the time to heal right aftre the surgery then you will know whats next~ Take care

you will feel some minor throat pain
i would keep your daughter at home

eat lots of ice cream and cold drinks/foods etc.

I had mine out when I was 21. It wasn't too horrible, least compared to the previous throat pain. I had the surgery on a Thursday, I was back in class on the following Tuesday. You could probably keep her at home. The first 3-4 days will be the worst. The worst part for me was the lack of food I was able to eat.
