What a load of rubbish!!Smoking weed does not mean you will become addicted to anything, just like smoking tobacco (also a drug) will not lead to you smoking weed.I have smoked weed daily for the past 17 years and have never even tried coke or meth! Some people are so ignorant its not funny, the only reason you may come in to contact with those other drugs is because weed is illegal and so you have to buy it (unless you grow your own) from someone who is quite likely going to be dealing other drugs too. But that doesn't mean you have to buy them. If tobacco was illegal and you had to buy that from a dealer then people would be saying that smoking tobacco will make you become addicted to coke and meth! I am fed up with ignorant people making statements about things that they know nothing about, just regurgitating the same tired old propaganda, without ever actually looking in to it and thinking about it for themselves. 'Weed kills your brain cells' 'weed destroys your life' 'you will lose everything and end up a loser' all these statements are blatently lies. As I said before I have smoked weed daily (several times a day) for 17 years ,I have an IQ of 130, I have two beautiful daughters, one of whom is classed as academically gifted, I have a nice home and have been in a stable relationship for 16 years, I am now 34 and have a good social life, hardly your typical 'stoner' stereotype, which in my opinion goes to prove how much of this bullshit is just propaganda. I suffer from no mental health issues that are supposedly linked to cannabis use i.e paranoia, anxiety, schitzophrenia etc.
I'm not saying that probably most people addicted to heroin, coke etc didn't smoke weed first because they probably did but I would bet that before they tried weed they were smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol (just because someone decided these drugs could be made legal doesn't change the fact that they are still drugs) so why not follow the chain of drug use right back to the start with alcohol annd tobacco. Those are the real 'gateway' drugs because everyone starts on those, but not everyone who drinks alcohol or smokes a cigarette goes on to injecting heroin, thats ridiculous! Just as not everyone who smokes weed goes on to harder drugs.

i haven't smoked weed for 20+ years but i think i might be able to help you a little bit. Ive smoked for about 6 years. smoking weed doesn't make you addicted to those other drugs BUT when you smoke weed you tend to try other drugs because you want something new, or a to try a different high. It doesn't happen to everybody but i think most people who smoke weed often could tell you that they have at least experimented. I was never addicted to meth or coke but i have tried cocaine before and a few other drugs. I never got addicted to them but like I said before, i think smoking weed does encourage you a little bit to try other things.

I know plenty of people who smoke pot and have never ever even thought of trying coke, meth, or any other illegal drugs. There was a special on the history channel about the history of marijuana and why it became illegal. You should check it out, it's very interesting.
