DO is a doctor of osteopathic (sp?) medicine
MD is a medical doctor
They are one in the same, but a DO's training is more from a holistic approach, they are generally concerned with medicine, but are actually taught to care about you in general too (as a nurse is trained). An MD is taught basically as a scientific approach, you have X problem, you need to fix it, but who cares about everything else that is going on in that person's life, etc.
