It is called Degenerative Disc Disease. It's a very common complaint and it affects a very large percentage of the population. I have it myself. It is treated in different ways. Usually surgery is not called for unless it becomes very serious. It can be treated with injections at the sight of the pain. This is usually done by a Pain Management Specialist and can prove very helpful unless there are other health issues which interfere with this type of treatment. In the meantime, do not lift any object weighing over a few pounds. Learn to bend at the knees, not from the back. Do not twist and bend. Take care of your back. Heating pads are helpful if you have a flare up. The main thing to remember is to be careful with your back. You may need to see a rheumatologist to get you on a good course of treatment before doing anything else. I would advise this, since this was the first thing I did in my course of therapy and it is going very well. Good luck to you, my friend!
