Health problem...maybe hard to answer but please try..?!

Question: Why can one just sort of..become lactose intolerant??? There is no family history, no problems I have had up until a year ago and Im 21 yrs old. Why does it just happen?? And does it have to do with stress or eating disorders? Just wondering if there is any correlation...my lactose intolerance is really bad! Another question...does chochlate have milk in it because that makes me sick...and why does yogurt NOT make me sick at all??

Stress and eating disorders - while able to really foul up your body - didn't cause this.
It's genetic. :( As with most things genetic, your most recent ancestors (parents!, gparents, etc.) don't necessarily have to have it for you to have it. Maybe your great-great-great grandma was intolerant, or her grandfather, and now you are.
As to why it 'just happens,' most earlier humans were not herders. We drank milk when we were babies and never again after that, so our bodies evolved to not produce 'lactase,' the enzyme that breaks down lactose, beyond childhood. 'Use it or lose it' is the rule in biology and evolution. So, in modern society, many individuals will be able to eat dairy until their late teens or early twenties, when these genes kick in and shut off the production of the enzyme.
Fortunately, all you have to do in order to eat dairy comfortably is supplement that enzyme. You can take products that you get at the grocery store, like Lactaid, but in my own experience, I have found these to be of low quality. The one I use is called 'Multi-zyme', from 'Standard Process'.
It can be ordered from: http://www.naturamart.com/standard-proce... (worth the cost!)
Yes, chocolate has milk in it, and the answerer above me is correct. Yogurt has bacteria in it that does the difficult work of digesting lactose for you.

yes you can develop lactose intolerance try silk soy and as far as the yogourt it has active emzyme that assist digestion

Yogurt does not contain the same amount of lactose as regular milk. The milk sugar (or lactose) is used up in the process of transformation of milk to yogurt. Maybe that's why plain yogurt is a little bit on the sour side. Chocolate might have milk solids in it which you find irritating. Check the label.

I AM WITH YOU. CHOCOLATE MILK MAKES ME BLAST! i COULD CLEAR A ROOM. bUT SERIOUSLY. iT IS CAUSED BY A ENZYME DEFICIENCY IN YOUR DIGESTIVE TRACT. gET SOME PAPYA TABLETS AT GNC. WORKS FOR ME
