If you take Tylenol often enough, you will have liver problems.
Just because it's available over the counter, doesn't mean it cannot be abused. Cold medicine often makes you sleepy and that alone is reason enough to use it only for the symptoms it was developed for.
Tylenol and motrin are pain relievers. If you are in pain, it should relieve it some. If you are not in pain, then nothing.
Antihistamines (like benadryl) can also have a calming effect.
