The pain can be caused BY the vomiting itself. It's still best to give the nurses' hotline a ring.
This kind of question drives me nuts......how can anyone here tell you what illness your child has????

<>< Yes, it could be something other than the flu. Please take your child to the doctor. It has been a long time since I have had the flu, but the pain across abdomen would be of concern to me. Even if it is just the flu, small children run a risk of becoming dehydrated pretty fast if they cannot keep anything down. Better safe than sorry.
Go to ER or call 911, it could be acute appendicitis.
Signs of appendicitis is stomach pain at the naval & radiating downward to the right abdomen.

There is no telling, everyone is getting sick these days. Make an appointment for him to go to the doctor, and here are a few tips. For now just put a large bowl by his bed, comfort him, and give him some pedialite. Gatorade is amazing too, it saved my Grandfather's life [literally].
But since he has pain below his belly button call 911 NOW. If he does have appendisitius and you wait to long his appendix will burst and he will die. I've had it before- it isn't fun. He needs to have his appendix removed.
He's sick, take him to the doctor.

sounds like it could be appendicitis..GET THEM TO THE E.R even if it's not that something is not right.
If hes not better by morning i would take him in.
GET A DOC! It could be Endometriosis (If it is that bad) with the pain beneath the belly button. I am not kidding, but make your kid fart, it can help ease the pain. I'm not a Doc, but you go better see one ASAP. Don't take any chances!!!
