What is this pain I'm feeling right below my right rib and in my upper right!

Question: I've been experiencing severe pain below my right rib and in my upper back on the right side. It comes and goes but recently it has been excruciating to cough, sneeze, move quickly etc. At first I thought it was back pain or a torn muscle or something but I'm beginning to think it is whatever connects from the front to the back. I've been also having severe phlegm in the throat for a while as well as stomach problems, and it seems like these things could tie in with the pain I'm feeling. Anybody out there with minimal knowledge, let me know what the possibilities could be so I can know if a doctor may need to be seen

Pain under the right rib that radiates to the back should be considered a gall bladder issue until ruled out. I am not sure what your stomach problems consist of, but often gall bladder colic worsens after eating, especially if the meal has a lot of fat in it. But, since you also say that this pain is worse with movement, you might have some inflammation in your rib cage call costochondritis. Did you have any trauma or falls recently? You may be "guarding" due to the pain - meaning not taking deep breaths - which can lead to respiratory issues. One way or another, this needs to be evaluated by your health care provider urgently.

Sounds like you may have pleurisy. It's an infection in the lining of your lungs. I had it once and it's painful and annoying. Go see a doctor, it can be cured with antibiotics.

It could be gall stones. I think you should see a doctor as soon as possible.

Does it come an hour or so after meals? If so, it could be your gallbladder. If it's severe pain, you should see a doctor.

What are you waiting for? Go see a doctor ASAP.

Sounds like lung damage, either way don't wait. You should probably go to the emergency room.

this could be a number of things but gall bladder problems are likely or could be your lung go see your doc.

It sounds like pleurisy, I have it myself now and am on antibiotics for it.
