What are some causes as to why a 16 year old may suffer from frequent migraine&#!

Question: I'm only 16, and I get migraine's a lot, but I don't know why. Some people say it may be hormone's (I have my period every 2 weeks almost), others say it's stress and that I may have a disorder/disease and might want to get a blood test done. I've asked my mom to take me to the doctor so that I don't continue to miss school since I've been staying home a lot lately. I usually get them early in the morning. What may be wrong, and what other symptoms may be assosiated with migraine's (please list them so that I may be able to compare them)? Thank you?

Lack of sleep and stress can cause migraines. Also, irregular meals, missed meals, eating too many sweets or starchy food, too much caffeine, can all cause migraines. So can irregular sleep patterns, extreme change of emotions, and hormone cycles. One thing you can do is track your diet, find out if there is a certain food you are eating that may be causing it. I have much sympathy for you because I went through the same thing when I was your age. I hated it. The best thing I could do, was go to bed at the same time each night, limit sweets and caffeine, and avoid eating late at night. These things seemed to help for me and I hope they help for you. Oh and also, have you had your eyes checked? because it could also be a vision problem. Good luck at winning your battle against migraines.

Actually, hormones DO effect migraines. Sorry. Women get them more then men for a reason. Avoid any triggers that you know will cause migraines, such as bright lights, chocolate on an empty stomach, strong odors, etc. A lot of times, weather changes can cause migraines. There are medications, expensive, but they do work. Believe it or not, you will grow out of the migraines. Usually they abate as you get older. Sorry, that's all the advice I have.

i do the same thing about the migranes ,but i found out i had a wrong precription and i had somewhat bad eyesight

my eyes are sensitive b/c they are lighter so i do not like bright lights i am actually getting a migrane from looking at the computer cuz the screen is white but what the first person said is true also

Magnesium helps in some cases and you can find further information in a search for migraines + magnesium.
