Do you hear OK but have trouble understanding people?!

Question: I used to think it was just me but I've heard there really is such a thing as a specific hearing problem where you hear sounds OK but just have trouble understanding what people are saying. I am tired of asking people to repeat. Has anyone with this problem ever found help? What did you do?

I have trouble understanding people. It's weird. I go "What?" then they start to repeat then I go "OH! No." because I'll realise what they said, something along those lines. My brother gets pissed at me and goes WHY DO YOU ASK ME TO REPEAT MYSELF THEN?

It's kinda funny sometimes. But annoying.

Lol; I have trouble with both. I have bad hearing AND cannot understand people sometimes. I'm so lucky *sarcasm*

You ain't gonna like this answer. Get your hearing checked. It sounds like you've got the same problem I do, a high frequency loss, that prevents you from hearing specific sounds, like consonants. Do words like fish, witch, ditch, itch, rich...all sound pretty much the same to you?
The only way i could get semi-normal hearing was to buy hearing aids. Paid $2500 for a pair that slipped into the ear canal and couldn't be seen, but they hurt like hell and I hated them. Wound up losing them and haven't bought more. Lot cheaper to ask people to repeat, no matter that it's aggravating. Good luck. Hope it's easier for you. Seriously, good luck.

YES I CAN HEAR CAN U
