What would you prefer you kid become addicted to?...?!

Question: This may be a crazy question, but I was having a debate with someone and I'd like the views and opinions of you guys.

If you had to choose your child to become addicted to Crystal Meth (if it was LEGAL, but same drug) or Cymbalta (depression med) which would you choose?

OK scenario... your child said "I'm depressed and I need either the legal crystal meth that will help my depression or I need the prescribed cymbalta to help my depression" so what's it going to be mom/dad?

Pleas no answers of " I won't give them either one" I know that, but I was having a discussion with someone and since we had to choose I picked one and he picked the other, which would you choose and why? Feel free to elaborate.

Um no doubt the Cymbalta! Meth IS the worse street drug known to man! Once you get on that stuff this is like NOOO stopping. VERY addictive, and very bad for your health.

i wud say not cyrstal meth cause its fucked up

If I was forced to choose it would be the Cymbalta. I have seen what happens to people on meth and it is often not a good thing.

The depression medication. There's a reason crystal meth isn't legal; it wreaks total havoc on a person's mind and body. Making it legal wouldn't change that.

Since Meth is not legal, and it is not made the same way all the time, and is extremely addictive, as well as harmful to the body, I am guessing this would mean a controlled dose of cymbalta, which can have the dose changed as required, or replaced by another legal drug that has been tested and manufactured by a set group of standards, it would be the better of two evils. The truth is though, it is a hit and miss situation when attempting to figure out which drug would have the correct effect on an individual, which means it is more than possible that neither would work for the person. The fact that many drugs do not work the same on a child as they do an adult, would make either choice possibly the wrong one for this person.

i hate to say this but cigeratts because it is safer

The depression drug, duh. Meth is horrid.

Definitely not any street drugs. I would have her evaluated by a family doctor or pediatrician and go from there as I am not qualified to diagnosis depression in children let alone prescribe medication and neither are you. However, I don't let kids give me ultimatums either.

Meth, that way I could get them to do chores for three days straight with no sleep whatsoever. Cymbaltta makes people lazy and lethargic.
