She seems to have improved ever so slightly. Forget about eating as long as she is drinking lots and lots......Encourage that.

Sounds like the flu. There is no cure, just need to treat the symptoms.

If her eyelids swelled and she went red all over, sounds like an allergic reaction to the ibuprofen and paracetomal. I don't know what the paracetomal is but if she is taking them together, she needs to stop. Sometimes we "double up" on the ingredients when we take a bunch of medicine and we don't read the label.

The ibuprofen should be all she needs for the aches/pains/fever. When she is "cold", she shivers which is the body's attempt to warm up. Adding covers at that time is good to keep the body from shivering. That is a sure sign she is running a fever.

When the shivering stops, remove the covers to just enough to stay warm. Too many covers will increase her temperature dangerously high.

Do not take any other medicine unless there are other symptoms like stuffy or runny nose, cough, vomiting, etc. Then you will want to treat those things with the right medicines for just the symptoms she has.

You will likely catch the flu from her so be sure your house has enough medicine to treat you and anyone else in the house that will get it.

Just be sure to read labels so you don't take too much of one kind of medicine while trying to get the other kind. OK?

Fix her some soup. She can sip on it and if she holds it down, she can gradually eat more solid food in a couple days. But food is strength. Hopefully she doesn't vomit. The doctor has medicine to stop that if necessary. But she needs to begin to eat something light. And drink, drink, drink. Get her whatever is her favorite fluid!!

Good luck

HOSPITAL NOW!!!! Swollen eyelids could mean an allergic reaction!

Why arent you at hospital this very minute?

Sounds like she has an infection of somesort, could be a urinary tract infection, could be pneumonia, could be meningitist, could be cellulitis, could be anything. Take her to a+e right now and get her some treatment, not over the counter rubbish.

organic your mum needs to see a dr especially as she has asthma it sounds like a dose of flu but with her eyelids swelling it sounds like she had a possible allergic reaction to the meds.she needs to drink plenty of fluids also as during a cold or flu you produce more snot and stuff which is essentially made up of water.Good luck hope she gets well soon.

Hospital now

she may have terminal cancer which means shes definatly going to die
im very sorry
my dad died from this too
exactly the same symptoms

Probably just viral sounds so due to the back and joint pains accompanied with the high temp. Virus can be nasty she wanst cold with the shaking she was burning up with fever we shake is coz we feel like were extremly cold but did you take her temp i bet it was sky high. You should give her regular ibuprofen and paracetamol. With plenty of rest and fluids and no chores.

To me the symptoms sound like flu. The swelling though sounds like an allergic reaction to medication she has taken - she should get this checked out if it is still affecting her.

I think you should call the paramedics and let them decide what it best for Mum. Hope she is okay soon.
