So, it isn't safe to ski with a triple lumen central line, what type would b!
Question: History: I had frostbite, which got infected, which resulted in septic shock and a long hospitalization. I am finally out of the hospital and just on maintenance meds (which is why I still have the central line). I really want to get back to my normal life but I'm told it could be around 8 more weeks until the triple lumen is removed....I'm trying to come up with some safe alternatives.

Your body needs time to heal. That is why the Dr. said to take it easy, right? Sound familiar? The central line needs to be kept as clean as possible ( that's why they use all that scrub and sterile procedure to do the dressing change on that bad boy) Take it easy and follow the instructions your MD gave you and stick to lighter activities to prevent recurrent infection. Sounds like you youv'e been through enough already. Take care of yourself, and start skiing a little bit later. Hope this helps you.
Find something else to fill you time. Skiing is out for now.
