Do you think we should have free* healthcare for all in the USA?!

Question: I originally come from Great Britain where health care is free -well kinda - we pay a small percentage of our income to cover it.
You can walk into a doctors surgery or an Emergency room and not have to pay a penny!!!

No remortgaging our house, NO rip off insurance companys that try to get out of paying, NO small print where it states that your insurance doesnt cover this or that, NO premiums to pay - absolutely nothing to pay - apart from that small percentage that we pay through our income.

Every British citizen is entitiled to care no matter if they are working or not.

Perscriptions cost around 12 pounds ($24) no matter what you get.

We also have less people addicted to perscription drugs as our doctors do not make money from perscribing certain drugs to patients for example Oxycoten, xanax, lortab etc

Our preventative, emergency, Desease, Cancer, Terminal, Rehabilitation, general heathcare, maternal, Drug rehab, family planning(Birth control & STD etc) Care that we recieve is great.

If you have say a dicky knee and you need to see a specialist you may have to wait a little while - but that is for just minor things.

I lived in Oxford and we have one of the best hospitals in Europe the "John Radcliff Hospital" . And our hospital equipment is just as good as in the USA.

We also have less drug recalls than in the USA because we dont let the drug companys get away with what they do in the USA - which is kinda like human trials, or at least thats what it seems to me.

Dont let anyone in the USA tell you that so called "Socialist or Goverment controlled heath care is bad" Because it is not.

I believe that it IS the government duty to make sure its citizens are healthy and kept that way.

And I am really shocked that "Christian" America does not take the same view. Lots of people here in the USA take the view of "Well I am covered and my family is - so I dont really care about everyone else"
Doesnt sound very Christian to me. Jesus was poor - do you think he would have afforded Insurance?

If you have a common cold you can call a doctors office and be seen the same day!!!
And if you cut your hand off you would be seen as soon as the ambulance gets you to the Emergency room - A free ambulance by the way.

But I do believe that it will change here in the USA in the future - well hopefully anyway.

I am glad that if I get cancer or something as serious while living in the USA I can just go home to Britain and get taken care of for free - I am very lucky

I totally think that America is extremely over due for universal health care. But the American government is so corrupt that they too get money from insurance companies. I have lived in the USA for 10 years and am from Canada, however when i was younger i didn't realize how great the health care system was there. I want to move out of the USA now, this place sucks!

How can anyone think that the USA is so great when they don't even take care of the people who live there? You can see the true colors of a country when you look at how it takes care of its people!

I am 100% in favor of socialized healthcare. Its gotta be better than having 40% of our children unable to get medical care.

As a 19 year old type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic and lupus patient, I would love to have free healthcare in the US

YES I DO THINK THAT HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE FREE.. OR AT LEAST FOR ELDERLY. IN THE COUNTRY I CAME FROM THE HEALTH CARE WAS FREE AS WELL. AND AS YOU EXPLAINED WE HAD TO PAY A SMALL FEE LIKE TAXES FROM OUR PAY CHECK. AND IT WAS WORKING VERY WELL....
I HOPE AFTER ELECTIONS THIS ISSUE WILL BE COVERED AND HOPEFULLY THE LOW WILL BE CHANGED TO MAKE HEALTH CARE FREE OR VERY AFFORDABLE TO EVERY ONE. BECAUSE EVERY BODY HAS A RIGHT TO BE HEALTHY RICH OR POOR. ESPECIALLY IN OUR COUNTRY WERE EVERY ONE IS EQUAL (or suppose to be)..........

i hope health care in usa will improve senior citizens, visitors are unable to pay the copay. there should be seperate hospitals, catering to the poor and needy with nominal charges.

I'm glad YOU can be taken care of same day, but how come that is NOT what the British government says?
"Staff are being laid off, and deficits are at an all time high (
