Angry with my Doctor?!

Question: I went to my Dr last night because I have something stuck in my throat. He told me to have an xray today and come back after it was done. I had the xray and went to the surgery at 430pm He saw the xray and took it then and there. The receptionist told me to sit and wait he would see me soon so I sat and waited while he took in more patients. Then he started taking in patients who came in after me so at 6pm I said to the receptionist what is happening I was here first and she said I thought he had seen you already, then she rang him and asked him was he going to see me. He said come back in a couple of days. I waited for an hour and a half. I am pissed off. My question is how do I approach this with him without being rude or coming across as being rude. I had a sick child at home and I went there straight from work so I am just really angry that he left me, no apology or anything. I feel that he should have at least apologised for leaving me there waiting.

I would be absolutely fuming!

Here's what I would want to do, but wouldn't have the guts: Call up his nurse and ask for the results of the X-Rays you got. If you need treatment, go to another doctor for it. Call and talk to whoever handles the bills at his office. Inform them that you will not be paying the bill for that visit. You wouldn't pay a roofer or maid that left you hanging with the job half done. Why should it be any different?

Seriously, I would find another doctor. Yes, they're busy. We're all busy...there are stores that don't get my business anymore because the employees were all too busy to help me. In my opinion, the same thing applies.

How's your throat anyway? Hope you're feeling better and do get the treatment you need for it. Good luck!

i'm not reading that.

Funny i hate my doctor and dentist too

Get a new doctor that cares about you. I understand that doctors are busy and all, but you don't deserve to be treated like that.

I don't want to sound mean, but you got to understand that the life of a doctor is strenuous. They're human, they make mistakes. Do not blow up in his face because he forgot one patient. . .they have to work endlessly for countless of people because there are not enough doctors in the world. If and when you see him again, address the problem nonchalantly, like casually. . .

Since your were only following his instructions to return after having the xray, I would say he was wrong in not seeing you. You deserved to know what your medical problem was and to be treated with both courtesy and respect. I would seriously consider changing doctors if I were you.

Just explain to him that you realise he is a busy man but you are also busy and have family commitments and if he cannot see you when you are in the surgery could he please let you know immediately. The problem probably was with the receptionist. It sounds like she had forgotten you. Poor management all round.

Well, it is very obvious that you have a very busy doctor....that alone shuld tell you that a doctor who is really busy means that he is generally a good doctor.

It sounds more like a communication problem with the office people..relating untimely messages to the doctor.

Usually if the doctor is really busy, then it should fall on the office people to make the apologizes and reassure you of the situation.

unprofeesional and inconsiderate. he could have taken a few more minutes out of his time in the least. dont go back. simple. you dont havve to explain to him why. that would p* me right off.
