I need advice on overcoming illness & enjoying great health! help!?!

Question: I've been dealing with chest infections/colds, and just general blah health/nausea off and on for the past few years and I can't seem to snap back into my regular 100% healthy ways.

Is there anything I should be doing, to take care of myself and snap back quickly to recovery, aside from seeing my doctors?

I drink alot of water and eat healthy, but should I be moving around and going out and about in public, or should I be more sedentary and be resting, taking it easy?

It's difficult especially when the issue is your chest because too much going out and about can make you catch more germs.

Is it normal to go through periods of ill health, I'm not saying I'm sick every day, but just have it alot more so than usual, and what not?

Or are we supposed to at all times be at 100%, and if anything happens that takes that away, we should be concerned?

You need to get your body exposed to disease to make it resistant towards it and avoid beccoming allergic to everything from a hyper immune system.

The last time I even got a cold was over 6 months ago and it was because everyone in the classroom had the same virus (a strong one too) and I got infected. However, I was only sick for 3 days.

Take into the equation that as a med student and going to public hospitals; I'm with people with Tuberculosis and stuff like that. Therefore, I'm constantly being infected with nasty stuff but never get sick from it because my body seems to have antibodies of everything by now.

I know a person who got colds all of the time as a kid and stopped being sick because she got into ice skating. The temperature change forces your body to become resistant in that sense.

One other thing to avoid colds is hand hygiene. It's a good idea for people with a cold to just not touch people and clean the stuff they used (tv remote and such) after each use until they're not sick anymore. Sneeze into your hand or hankerchief and don't rub snot on people unless infecting them is your life-long dream. Don't get into contact with other people's food either, serve yoursef first with your own clean spoon.

Eating food rich in vitamin C being healthy is a good idea. The spicier the chile, the more vit C it has. Guayaba fruits are rich in vitamin C and they are pretty tasty as a drink if you put them in a blender with sugar and water.

Xango is a natural fruit drink that improves your immune system. It's probably part of the reason I don't get colds despite wearing light clothing in the middle of winter, being stressed and sleeping late.

Doctors are not God, you can only get so much from them. Keep mentally strong, PRAY alot trust me it will help you through these ordeals.

One hint, if you use a lot of alcohol based cleaners (purell hand sanitizer, clorox bleach stuff, etc.) stop using it. Because your body need to be exposed to some germs to build up your immune system. Also, its getting to be more like spring so go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sun! also, take your vitamins, and eat healthy and excercise! hope this helps and stay positive! Have a great day!

ps (if you are feeling out of energy, have just a little caffeine and get moving. As long as you've rested enough, you should get your metabolism working, so try short walks etc. Also, drink some Vitamin Water. Its good!)

OK, look, i am a health freak!....I eat 100% ORGANIC foods, and that has helped me for a long time..I have nmot been sick for a very good while, and the reason is, is that i don't eat JUNK foods,(like pizza, chips, cokes, ect.).....your sicknesses are only because you are not eating right, and you r not getting the proper exercises...Eat organic foods, drink plenty of water, and STOP seeing so many doctores, only because they cover up the REAL problem!....

Yes I think that it is natural to go through these phases of poorer health. It just means that you are going through some changes. If you allow your body to go through the sickness naturally and work through it in a healthy way then you will come out stronger. I have been going through a tough phase as well. I have had exhaustion, sickness even some depression for years now, but I can feel myself coming out of it even better than before! A few things that have been really beneficial for me have been diet (ayurvedic and raw food), yoga!!! (yoga is fantastic! I feel 100% better after each class and a little bit better everyday! You can check out free classes on www.yogatoday.com), meditation (a Zen master said that half an hour of meditation is the equivalent of 3 hours of sleep. Check it out.) and long walks (I try to take one long walk everyday. I walk EVERYWHERE now.) All the best!
