I have a cold.. but why does my nose block up during the night and fine (but run!

Question: i have had a cold for the past 4 days and its ruining my sleep..
because at night my nose blocks up and i struggle to breath.. which makes me not able to sleep very well
...
oh and i try to breath through my mouth but when i eventually dose off my mouth closes, forcing my body to breath through my nose but because its blocked.. i stifle and wake up again

but in the morning... as soon as the sun comes out my nose isnt blocked anymore..
whats going on with that? i cant sleep during the day because i have work so this unblocked nose is going to waste :(

does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

No, it happens to everyone - try sleeping on one side and all the mucus/snot falls to the side you're sleeping on and only blocks that side of your nose. When you get up and start moving about - it loosens up and only has one place to go - down. Hence a runny nose. You can put some Vic vapour rub under your nose at night, this will help breathing. Try not to blow your nose as this will make it worse, just wipe it. Because your inner nose is warm and wet, the cold germs multiply so blowing will only make it worse,

yeah that happens to me

happens to me also but i aint been able to sleep coz of chest infection caused by a cold and wake up caughing yuk horrible would rather have a runny nose hope you feel better soon have u tried using olbas oils to help you breathe better at night

i am going though it as well i had a flu jab but i got cold
