Question: Does anyone know why the doctor checks your sinuses by tapping or pressing on your forehead and cheeks? What does this tell them?

I think primarily, if there is pain when he/she does this, then you may have an infection in your sinuses. I know tapping my face when I have a sinus infection is extremely painful. Also, when I bend over, the pain is excruciating. There is fluid in the sinuses during an infection and the pressure of this fluid causes pain.
