Is this arthritis?!

Question: Not quite sure where to ask this, so I'll just try it here.

A few years ago I took a tumble on a motorcycle going about 50mph. Nothing serious... no broken bones, no death, etc. When I got thrown off the bike, I landed on my left side pretty hard, then skid along the asphalt for about 30 feet. Got up, made sure my limbs were intact and that I hadn't soiled myself, then picked the bike up and went home.

A few days later I got over my stubbornness, and went to a hospital due to some significant pains in my ribs and the left side of my hip. X-rays came back showing no broken bones, and just some heavy inflammation. Took some pain meds, got over it, never really had any lingering side-effects besides some scars. Then about a year later, I got that same bad cramping like feeling in my hip, and have been periodically experiencing it ever since. It feels like it's right where the femur bone connects to the hip. But nothing is misaligned. Possibly arthritis? Thanks for any advice.

It sounds more like bursitis in your hip. Arthritis doesn't normally feel 'cramping', more just painful aching and stiffness.

Bursitis in the hip can feel like a deep cramp when you move in a certain posistion. Mostly it has a burning pain sensation. It can hurt especially bad when walking up stairs.

From personal experience- if it is bursitis, a cortizone shot really, really helps.

Hope you feel better.

It could be osteoarthritis/DJD... possibly caused by the trauma from your accident. Do you feel any pain, cracking, or a grinding sensation in that joint when you move it? That would indicate DJD. Go to the doctor, they can order an xray, CT, MRI to determine if there is any damage to your joint or cartilage.

sounds like a slight fibur fracture or could be arthritis try taking bc powders for arthritis
