Why do I hiccup after EVERY meal?!

Question: This has just started in the past month. Every time I eat anything, I start hiccuping afterwards. It's not bad, only lasts for a couple minutes, but it's kind of weird that it's just started and is so consistent. I'm almost 25 years old and this has never happened until a couple weeks ago.

Perhaps you swallow air when you eat. This happens to me quite often, as I don't usually have a lot of time in which to consume my meals (busy working mother of three little ones) so I tend to eat quickly. If you tend to have conversations at the dinner table, this could also be the cause for the hiccups. Until my doctor told me, I never knew that a person could swallow air when talking/eating...because its barely noticeable..well, at least until the hiccups start.

It could be a sliding hiatal hernia. You should see your DR and ask for an imaging series to see if that is the problem. You could just be eating too fast.

Probably because you are eating too fast. Slow down when you are eating.

you are eating too fast... therefore upsetting your tummy....Also it is said that warming up your chest helps.....one more... if you are constantly worried that also upsets the stomach and produces air to balance oput the liquids inside you! :)

If I don't drink enough water when I eat I get the same sort of problem too.

Try drinking water before you start your meal and after you finish your meal. See if it works. If it doesnt, consult a dietian.

It happens to extremely sexy footed women all the time. You need to let me rub your feet each evening!

Yes, eating too fast can cause it. Bread and carrots (dry things, it seems, oh but let's not forget diet coke) can cause hiccups as well, for me.

For laughs, try my remedy. When you start, and can't stop hiccuping, take some sugar in a teaspoon, and wet it under slow dripping water. Then swallow it with more water. It cures mine every time.

Good luck!
God bless!

Drink water upside down.
