If time heals all wounds, how come the belly button always stays the same?!

Question: Because the belly button, or umbilicus in medical terms, is not a wound, although it has been termed a scar. Before birth the umbilical cord that contains usually 2 arteries and a vein connect the baby to the placenta which draws oxygen and nourishment from the mom and delivers carbon dioxide and waste to the mom. After the child is born part of the arteries close off to become the medial umbilical ligament. The part that remains open becomes the internal iliac artery. The vein then closes off and becomes becomes the round ligament of the liver. So it is healed, it is just not gone.

WHAT? LOL

it is healed...theres just a scar , like any wound

I think it's natures way of reminding us where we came from and that we were once babies.

and your point is? a stomach would look wrong with out a belly botton...

Well if you cut off your arm it doesn't grow back, the wound will just seal. Your arm will not grow back.

Similar to your arm, the "belly button" will not grow back because you cut off your umbilical cord. It will just seal the wound.
