Sierra, I also had the racing heart, shooting pains in my chest and arms, and the constant worry that I was headed for major heart trouble. My doctor gave me a brief resting EKG, told me my heart was OK and the symptoms were probably panic attacks. That diagnosis didn't help me at all and the pains continued.

I finally made an appointment with a cardiologist (heart doctor) and was given a walking stress test and an echo-cardiogram. The doctor said that the stress test is the MOST RELIABLE way to tell if there is a heart problem. Well, these test results convinced me that all those symptoms were not caused by a bad heart. I now have a lot of peace that I am not going to suddenly grab my chest and drop dead! Best of all, 90% of the scary symptoms have gone away, all because I feel more secure about my health.

I recommend that you get a cardiac stress test. It will give you a detailed picture of how your heart really works. You deserve to have some relief from the anxiety and torment you are going through.

If it turns out that you truly are having panic attacks there are therapies that will help you control them, but rule out your heart first.

Peace of mind is a wonderful thing. I wish that for you.

I went through that for years. Finally, I was given a prescription for some Beta-Blockers (Atenolol), which helped slow and regulate my heartbeats. Some people just have a very sensitive parasympathetic nervous system, and the resulting rapid/skipped heartbeats lead to panic attacks, anxiety, etc., and a preoccupation with the heart. Half of my family suffers from this sensitivity, and we all take Beat-Blockers.

Try to get your doctor to provide you with some anti anxious medication, that will help.

its anxiety..i dont believe in pills.you need to meditate..or stop thinking about whatever makes you worried.when you start feeling worried just STOP thinking about it and distract yourself if you cant just lay down on your back breath in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly counting one thousand one..one thousand two...one thousand three etc...while youre counting put one hand on your stomach and keep watching it go up and down as you inhale and exhale..exhale through your stomach if that makes any sense?..anyways this is suppose to relax you and slow down your heart rate.ive tried it and it worked for me.also caffeine, candy and foods with lots of salt/sodium increase heart rate so eat healthy and drink water or juice instead.hope this helps!

Ask your doctor for a cat scan and a EEG (Electroencephalogram) you could have had a seizures or stroke and not know it just ask for a full body check. I hope this helps my baby boy gets the same symptoms and he is now OK but he had a lot of test done.
