I have an earache?!

Question: I have had a sore throat for a few days now accompainied by the normal cold symptoms and then last night I woke up with a pretty painful earache. It felt almost like someone was pressing on something inside my ear and there has been a constant ringing since about 1 am. Now it's about 8 and it still hurts but not quite as badly, it's still ringing and still feels like there is some pressure. My question is, should I see a doctor about this or should I not worry?

I personally would see a doctor because it could be an ear infection and they can become exruciatingly painful (I've had waaaay too many of them over the years). They can sometimes clear up without antibiotics, given enough time, but they are one thing I never hesitate to take antibiotics for.

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between pain in the ear and in the throat (and sometimes a person has both).

Colds generally cause pressure to build up in the ear. It sounds like it'll pass but if it doesn't you should get it checked out.
