Can anyone tell me which surgery is better band or the stomach surgery?!
Question: band surgery..my sister had an op,,last year,,re,,stomach band..has lost loads of weight,,she,s going next week,for the band to be tightened..good luck..mary.c.

band because you don't have to damage the stomach for that. stomach surgery removes a part of your stomach. banding just adds a band around your stomach and is a relatively safer and just as effective surgery though there are no proper studies done yet on the long term effects of banding. i say banding but voice your concerns to your doctor and take a second opinion with another surgeon about your condition.

No surgery is good unless your life depends on it, if it is purely cosmetic or weight loss then it is well within your power to do it naturally
Depending on what you mean by better, I'd say the band because it is less invasive and not permanent. However, both surgeries come with side effects and risks. Before you consider surgery, why not try the healthy route of eating sensibly and exercising? Your doctor is the one to decide whether or not you are a candidate for either surgery, but if you are given a choice, and there 's no other alternative, I'd recommend the band.
My friend had a band two years ago, she has not had much success with it and hasn't lost much weight, she had it replaced a few weeks ago as the first one had slipped.(This she had to pay for again) so check in to it thoroughly.
