Numb feet with discoloration?!

Question: I've got a wierd problem & it has my doc a little stumped. My feet are numb around the ball of my foot, but I also have a wierd discoloration that are around my ankle as well as in the top front of my food where the toes attatch to the rest of the foot. I've had it for a while & I at first thought it would have been athlete's foot since my feet sweat quite a bit. I put on some medication, yet it doesn't do anything. I told my doctor about it & she was sort of stumped. She was talking about doing some scrapings to see what it is, but so far I don't know what it's from. My feet are also slow to sense things sometimes. For instance, if I were to put my feet in warm water that didn't feel overly hot to the rest of my body it would feel incredibly warm to sometimes scalding to my feet.

It's so embarassing since I don't want to have anyone see my feet & assume that I don't take care of my feet or anything to that nature. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Sounds like a circulation problem that you need to be very aggressive in resolving. Your Doctor seem too laid back.

Also, check your blood sugar. The fact that your doctor wants to take a scraping indicates it might be a skin problem. See a dermatologist as well.

Get moving ..........

I have seen people that have discoloration on their feet but it was caused by slow circulation. Has your doctor checked to see how the blood is flowing in your legs and feet?

i agree with the first answer. poor blood flow to the feet. your numbness is from the nerves not working properly. i would recommend you see a podiatrist. they specialize in feet.

I have heard of it in conjunction with diabetes and poor circulation.

Assuming you have been checked for both, ask about the very little checked for condition called Hanson Disease.

I'll let you google that one

My grandfather had that problem. He ended up with diabetes. I would recommend going onto WebMD and using the symptom checker just in case. Best of luck!
