Addicted to nicotine w/o smoking?!
Question: Okay, I'm sorry if this sounds like a ridiculous question, but I think I sometimes get the urge to smoke. I know it's horrible for one's health and all and I've never smoked in my life.
My dad had smoked until I was in 4th or 5th grade... does this have anything to do with my situation?

The smoke cigarettes produce contain nicotine, the addictive part of cigarettes. So if you have been inhaling his smoke for a long period of time then you could have got hooked of of the second hand smoke.
Try and stay away from cigarette smoke from now on, hopefully your brain isn't craving the nicotine too much or you'll probably feel the withdrawal symptoms.
Over time your brain won't crave the nicotine and you'll be fine, this is assuming it's a physical craving and not simply a mental craving.

i dont think its a stupid question though.
my dad has smoked all my life, and i have friends who are the same, but neither of us want to smoke because its disgusting.
so i dont think that your dad smoking has anything to do with it. maybe you just want to try it and see what its like?
or talk to your doctor maybe?
