Do I need to see a neurologist?!

Question: My vision has been incredibly dark and unable to adjust to normal light for about four years now. I've been to a regular doctor and an opthamologist and they both told me I was perfectly normal. The only thing I noticed that's different about my eyes by looking at them is that they dilate very easily in darker light. Neither one referred me to a neurologist, but I feel I need to see one..I mean, I had blood checked and eyes checked, and the vision continues to deteriorate. I also noticed I deal with bouts of confusion and feelings of deja vu almost on a daily basis, and sometimes I feel sheer terror, like when I'm driving. these symptoms are relatively new. Drinking intensifies these feelings as well. I get very strong dizzy spells, sometimes lasting as long as an hour, where I am totally demobilizated. What do i do?? I am only 22 and I dont not have health insurance. I have a full time job and a stressful relationship, just bought a car....idk, help!

I don't think that there would any need to see a neurologist, I don't think that they would deal with a problem like this. The fear and anxiety issue probably means that you need to see a psychiatrist. However, if you don't like that your opthamologist finds nothing wrong, perhaps it might be a good idea to get a second opinion from a different doctor.

Also, consider this... have you been taking any new medications or supplements, or increased/decreased the dosage of a medicine/supplement? Medicines and supplements can be responsible for side effects like that. I'm assuming your bloodwork came out normal? It would be a good thing to make sure that you are not deficient in any vitamins or minerals too.

Best of luck!

I'm sorry if I'm not informative enough but I think you should. If you think you should, then you should, shouldn't you? Just in case, you know?

Sounds to me you need a psychiatrist more than a neurologist. Anxiety attacks.

Anyway, you might find a neurologist who would see you without a referral, tho I kinda doubt it. If you can, probably cost at least $200 up front for first visit.

i think u should...what can it hurt?
if it is something, its a small price to pay to be healthy and safe, right?
and if its not anything, then you'll be reassured and never have to worry about it again

If you have a full time job, then why don't you have insurance?? You should definitely seek further medical attention about this matter. Maybe even just a second opinon from a different Primary Care Physician. If you will be able to get some type of insurance soon, you may want to wait, cause if this turns out to be something serious you don't want it to be considered a pre-existing condition and therefore not covered.

you should go to another doctor tell him everything you just said and he should refer you to someone if he cant help but before you do dat go to a company like aflac where your coverage starts immediately and it will cover your cost
