What exactly are hiccups?!

Question: Because my cat gets them a real lot.

Answers: Because my cat gets them a real lot.

They're unintentional contractions of the diaphragm. This contraction causes the vocal cords to close very briefly making the sound of a hiccup.

In humans they can be caused by eating a large meal; sudden changes in temperature from inside & outside body; excitement or stress; nerve damage or irritation; metabolic symptom; etc.

I think you need to take your cat to the vet. There are too many reasons your cat is hiccuping.
