Curved backbone?!

Question: I'm 23. There is a little curve on my low backbone to the right side. My doctor looked at my X-rays and told me some people have that little curve and it won't turn to scoliosis because I'm an adult and not in menopause but I'm still worried.

Anyone else has a curve on her/his backbone. Was my doctor right and I'm worried for no reason?

People with structural scoliosis greater than 30 degrees often have their curve increase even though they're finished growing. If you have a much smaller curve, there's probably nothing to worry about. Your back will most likely not get worse.

i have a curve at the top of my backbone about three inches from where my neck starts. no matter how much i straighten my posture it still curves, my doc says that it is the way my spine has naturally grown. dont think u should worry too much unless it gets worse or starts causing pain

Curves can frequently progress. You don't say how many degrees of curve. Ask the Doc. Then see a Chiropractor. MANY tyes of spinal curvature are correctible. They will probably suggest re-x-raying in one year or so. If it is progressing they may make other suggestions.

Unfortunately, spinal curvature frequently leads to Arthritis as one becomes older.

I always love it when the MD says " lets just wait and see if it gets worse."
