Nerves I would say, drinking ginger ale usually has a calming effect on my stomach. Take some antacids if you have acid reflux, which irritates your esophagus. The diarrhea could just be from your nerves or a coincidence. Chances are it wasn't the ginger ale, but if you think it was try drinking it again when you feel okay. If it causes the same thing to happen, then it could be the problem, unlikely though.

Coincidence. Ginger Ale is actually suggested as a stomach calming drink. You must have a bug. Drink some ginger ale to feel better!
