Why are my hands and feet always FREEZING!?!

Question: It could be a warm day and they are still cold. Just my hands and feet though. If you were to touch my arm it could be hot but my hands and feet at the same time are freezing. I don't smoke and exercise all the time so it couldnt be lack of circulation...

Hi Lynn,

There are a number of things this could be. When you're dieting, sometimes you don't get enough nutrients or protein, this could be why you feel cold. This coul also be caused from a lack of iron, which is what happened to me not long ago. I am from L.A. and always seemed to have cold hands and feet, even in warm weather, and found out that it was an iron deficiency. Speak to a doctor, of if you can't right away, try iron tablets. Hope everything turns out OK!

It means your liver is working great.

I have the same thing, it's poor circulation that freaks doctors out - they tried to test me for a bunch of diseases but that is just how my body works. There's no harm in it

have your thyoid checked as that happened to me.

I would say poor circulation or maybe low blood pressure.

If you are a diabetic you could have poor circulation no matter how much you exercise. Just check into it.

Your Iron could be low, maybe you should get a examine at your doctor.

you could just have bad circulation, diabetes like me. see a doctor and get it under control. Good luck and God bless.

It really probably is just lack of circulation. If it's not in an awkward place doing a few pushups will get the blood flowing in your extremities.

Thin blood, you may need iron tablets. Also i think it may have something to do with your metabolism, google metabolism there is two known types, one effect is you always have cold hands and feet, the other is the opposite

actually it doesn't matter if you don't smoke or even if you exercise all the time...it could still be poor circulation

you should look on a health website to see if any conditions have this as a sympton or go and see your doctor. i have cold hands and feet alot, but usually not on a warm day. that sounds a bit worrying. xx

same happens to me, and i exercise too, not smoke either... but i notice this happens when im sitting in one place, for long periods of times (computer, school). so i would still say it's bad circulation caused by the previous things

Yes, it could. I am the same way. I am a small person and my hands go numb all the time. My feet are constantly like ice. I also find I am that way when my blood sugar is low and I'm hungry. I dress in layers, drink lots of water and maintain my bloodsugar and that helps me a lot

I have a problem with my feet being cold usually. What may help is showering in tepid water instead of very warm or hot water, keeping socks on your feet and having a heater near to your feet.

As far as your hands ......... well I'm not sure, maybe some wool gloves in addition to tepid water?

are you diabetic? diabetics usually have poor circulation = cold feet. ..and i assume hands also.

You could have Reynaud's (sp?) Disease. Ask you doctor about it.

thats just the way you are hon.....live life and love it =]

You could have Raynaud's syndrome, a disease that can be minor or severe. It's caused by restricted blood flow to the extremities. It's actually rather common, but if it impedes your life in any way you should probably go to a doctor and make sure there is nothing more serious going on because it could be a sign of something worse. Check out some of the health sites I listed in my references and that should help you out.
