All fingernails will do this if they are allowed to grow long enough. I believe it's due to the angle of the nailbed.
Why do you assume the 'grow' that way, rather than are modified by natural events like exposure to oxidation, and "drying out"? I was taught the fingernail was in fact dead tissue. Dead tissue does not grow, so how would it "grow" ever more curvy?
Its normal for the nail to grow downwards because all nails do that
There are people in the Guinness Book of world records that have extra, extra,long finernails and toe nails! nasty and gross looking!
