Is it possible that my office is making me sick?!

Question: I have allergies, and suffer from allergy-induced asthma. Lately, I only really seem to have symptoms in my office. I get dizzy and congested, and my chest feels like it's made out of lead. I use allergy medications and inhalers more at work than at home. Once I'm in my car and on my way home, my symptoms lessen to the point that they practically dissapear. Could it be the office making me sick?

Yes, the office might have hidden problems such as hidden mold from interior leakage; mold spores, which sets off allergic reactions. Numerous things can attribute to your attacks. Their ventilation system might be infected to the degree that you are breathing in pollution. Checking their CO2 levels would be another one. There could be something strange going on with their heating/cooling system but that would also affect the other workers. It seems by your statement that whatever is going on is proned to be caused by dust, mold spores, etc. but are hidden dangers that is being sucked into your lungs. Check out with your other co-workers and see if they are experiencing any of these symtoms. If so then this needs to be addressed with your superiors and fast. Whatever is creating this needs to brought to the attention of the office because for certain it is causing a health issue with you and maybe others.

Absolutely! A friend of mine had a terrible allergy problem and repeated sinus infections while at the same job for 8 years. She was fired last spring because of chronic absenteeism due to being sick all the time. Since being fired, she has only had 1 sinus infection.

I don't know if its due to the stagnant air that gets recycled in the buildings because they never open the windows, or it was caused by the stress of her job. Perhaps both.

Yes.....

I would see if they can do an Air quality test.

I hope you feel better.

heck yea its possible. if you know wat your allergies are make a list and check it, matter of duction. it could be someones bodywash, shampoo, hairspray, prfume thats doing it ta ya. or ask your boss if they have changed the air filters and if not ask them to change them, as it could be the very air your breathing. best of luck hope you git better
