I really want to pierce my nipples, but what are the negatives? Is it worth it?!

Question: I've had my nipples pierced for the past 6 years and fully intend to wear them to my grave. I will be that old lady in the nursing home with the pierced nipples. I love mine that much.

The negatives: It does hurt. They are tender while they're healing, they need consistent cleaning, they take several months to a year to heal completely.

As long as you take great care of your piercings, those are the only negatives that you will have to deal with. If you neglect your piercings you could also have to deal with scarring and infections, but if you can follow SIMPLE cleaning directions, then you should heal up just fine.

Personally I have gotten caught on things badly maybe 4 times in my years of having my nipples pierced. If you are even slightly aware of where your nipples are and what they are up to, you should be able to manage without catching them on every little thing.

I did have to have one of my piercings re-done because the initial piercing migrated (shifted position). The shifting process was started because the hoops I was wearing were a little snug and they were getting tugged by my wearing a bra. Getting repierced took more force on the part of the piercer to get through the scar tissue, but it did not hurt more. The lesson is: Wear the proper jewelry for your piercings!!! You may find that your nipples get slightly larger after they begin to heal, so you may need to be refitted for jewelry.

If you've already got sensitive nipples, you should be aware that piercing them can alter the sensation. You may not be as sensitive as you are now after having them pierced. Or you may end up even more sensitive. Or you may have no change whatsoever. No one can tell you which result you're going to get, so you really do need to decide if you would be happy if your sensitivity changed.

For me nipple piercing was utterly worth it. They now have the shape I prefer, have adorable jewelry in them, and they're more sensitive. I have yet to meet a person who understood the process going into the piercing, who didn't come out happy with their piercings.

If you can take proper care of your piercings, you shouldn't have any negative consequences. It's up to you to decide if the work is worth it.

YOU want to pierce your nipples? Or you want to have them pierced by a professional? I HOPPPE you don't do it yourself..
And in my personal opinion, no..it isnt worth it..it's tacky.

What aren't you a girl thats messed up!

It really turns a lot of guys on, and females that I've known that have done it say they like the sensation of having a piercing there...that they can feel it when they move, etc.(????)
You could start with one and see if it works for you.

You could loose sensation in your nipple from the piercing. You nipple will also stay permanently hard. More likely to get infected because it will mostly be covered all of the time.

Well, let's hope you find a professional piercing shop if you are really determined to do this. Now, the negatives? Okay, start with the possibility of infection getting started during the healing process. Scar tissue forming, enough that it interfers with how the nipples look in the end- and it can get nasty, so you will need plastic surgery for a rebuild. Meantime of course, the toll on your self esteem from having them can be quite high. Eventually, should you become a mother, of course nursing will be out of the question entirely. And then we are left with the look under clothing and in bathing suits. In the healing process, you will have to wear a post of some sort, which will leave a little bump which makes it look as if you are always on alert. And of course, although some fellows may find it a turn on, I believe just as many if not more will find it a turn off. You can opt to remove the earrings of course, but then there will be the matter of the hole left behind. I personally vote against it because it's weird looking and tacky, but if you are truly determined to go through with it, at least have it done professionally.

nipple peircings are not attractive froma guys point of veiw on a girl and besides you will regret it once you figure out how weird it looks with shirts. im sorry im not trying to be rude but you really need to think about what you are doing

mine r it didnt hurt 2 bad bout 2 days thay r extremly sinesative now its all about what u like or 4 mate

It's unattractive and you could lose sensitivity of them. Don't follow that trend.

I am a big fan of piercings and have a lot myself. I have had my nipples pierced for about a year and in my opinion I would say that it is not worth it.
When you get them pierced it does hurt, but not as bad as what most people think. I would say a 4.5 out of 10 on the pain scale.
Here are some reasons it's not worth it. The cost of the piercings and jewelry are on average $100.00. Aside from that this is one piercing that takes a long time to heal (in upwards of six months). Throughout this time you have to keep them cleaned regularly because they are very easily infected. Another big reason is because they get caught on clothing, blankets, and ect.... When changing your jewelry you must also be careful because they close way faster than other piercings and once they healed it makes it more painful and harder to be pierced again do to the scar tissue.
I have removed mine and they have been out for a year. As far as scaring it isn't that bad. In fact you can barely tell they were ever there.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck!!!!!!
