Is this normal or do I have issues?!

Question: Well in class today my professor asked me to read out loud to the class. So I started reading and all of a sudden I felt very very nervous. My heart-rate began to race and I read very fast, not taking time to breathe. It quickly became obvious to the class how nervous I was, you could even hear it in my voice. I felt real embarrassed by the end.

I know its normal to get a little nervous, but in my case, it felt extreme. Was what happened normal...or could it be a sign of mental or emotional insecurities/issues?

How can i fight this? I don't want it to happen again :(

i used to be just like you.

and no....you don't have issue's....its completely normal to get like that.

from what iv'e read...it sounds like your not used to doing this sortof thing infront of a class. Its only your confidence :) it will get better in time....trust me.

next time...say you don't want to read (in a mature nicely put way lol).

or talk to your professor at the end of ur class...and bring up what youv'e just told us.

:)

You fine

practice reading outloud alone
PRACTICEEE

Reading or speaking in front of a room full of people can casue anyone to feel nervous. It seems like you had a moment of anxiety. I think your behavior is typical. If you find yourself feeling like this in other situations, normal situations, more frequently you may want to seek professional advice. Just remember, it is not abnormal to get nervous, scared or extremely anxious once in a while.
