Should I have been allowed to use the bathroom?!

Question: At school last week I had a COMPLETE emergency in the middle of class. I privately went up to my teacher and asked her if I could please go and that I just couldn't wait another minute. She just said "you know the rules" which are you may go the last 10 minutes of class... but that was still 25 minutes away. I quietly made my way back to my seat and crossed my legs tightly under my desk. 5 minutes later I leaked a little and my bladder killed. I secretively put my hand down there to force the pee to stay in my body. I was in complete torture.... in the biggest emergency of my life. I leaked more and put my other hand down there... holdig so tightly my face got red. My teacher noticed and said "hands on the desk please". I didn't know what to do. My underwear were wet all over and I felt it start to dribble into my pants. I needed to get to the bathroom. I put a piece of paper in my undies in case I leaked more. I ran to the teacher's desk with my hand holding tight. Right before I

What a teacher sweetie. You should not have had to deal with that. First I would tell your mom about it. She should call this teacher and let her know that when these things come up not to give you any grief about it. With this teacher being a female she should know better. Or better yet if you have a female guidance counselor you should go to her about it.

You should run this by your mom but the next time it happens you go to the bathroom but go to the one in the nurses station/front office. That way you are in the nurses station. You can let her know what has happened. Sweetheart don't allow yourself to be put in that situation again

Don't be embarassed. Thirteen year old girls bodies are going through alot of changes.
Sweetheart at your age girls are going through alot of things. My daughter has started her period. Your at an age where teachers should be aware that there are going to be situations where the last thing you need is so be belittled in front of the class. And worse you were put in a situation that you should NEVER have been put in.
My daughter has a teacher and was being put through the SAME thing that you are. I called the teacher and told her to let my daughter go when she has to go. And she is to call ME if there is a problem not to embarass my daughter in class.

I wish I could just hug you right now. But instead I will call you Sweetie and Sweetheart a million times. Do you think your mom would help you out if she knew about it? If for whatever reason the answer is no go to the nurse or female guidance counselor and let her know.

I was thinking more about this. You really should talk to your mom. If your teacher would have let you go to the bathroom none of this would have happened. It's not like you did anything wrong REMEMBER the teacher was in the wrong. Your accident was a result of her not properly taking care of you. She should be embarassed sweetie not you. You will feel much better when this is resolved so in the event it happens again you won't have to go through this again. She should have NEVER put you in that position.
I think if your mom knew that you were going through all this she would want to fix the problem ASAP.
I am so sorry for what you went through I would love to call school for you!!!! But of course that's not an option!

Let us know what you do. Please don't be embarassed she put you in that position. Hang in there your a bright and eloquent girl.

Yes, absolutely! You should of been able to go to the bathroom. I understand that your teacher has rules but it obviously was an emergency.

the teacher should have realized you needed to go. i would have said i was on my period or something

She should have let you go...sometimes the rules need to be bent to allow for instances like that! Bless your heart!

She should have let you go - or at least told you to go to the nurse if she didn't trust that you were actually going to the bathroom.

You should be allowed to go to the bathroom at any time during the day. Stupid time limitations aren't going to stop the course of nature.

yes i think you should've but next time tell her its a female emergency and they have to let you go

you should have been able to

i think its wrong wen teachers dont let u go to the loo u should have jus walked out u mite get told off but its better then being embarrest.. if u need the loo u need the loo! poor u!

wen i was at skool i was dying to go n my teacher wudnt let me go luckliy i heald it and made it to the loo if i was bk then i would of jus walked out

Yes you should've been able to go to the bathroom. You should immidiately get your parents involved here and file a complaint against the teacher! She should be ashamed of herself! If you were my kid I would march straight down to the school and demand some logical answers! I'm sorry this happened to you...don't be afraid to speak up for yourself.

yes

It's very embarrasing to go through something like that. You should've been let to the bathroom.
I have to say, you should have your teacher be liable for the humiliation. Maybe have your parents be involved so they can make her change the rules?

Next time it happens, ask if you can go and if the answer's 'no' then just get up and go anyway. Worry about the consequences afterwards and tell your parents.

This is absolute BULLCRAP and BULLY behaviour on the teachers part!
And what if it were a girl getting her period? THEN WHAT!??

HOW RIDICULOUS!! and what a BULLY! She should be reprimanded as high as it goes.....

I would let your parents know so they can kick your teachers ***. I know that is exactly what i would do if I were your parent.

No one should prevent you from going to the bathroom when you have to go. Mother Nature does not follow schedules. I would have left the room and went to the restroom anyway. Deal with the consequences later, at least you would have had dry pants.

At a time like that, just ignore the rules and make your own. It is undoubtedly against policy for your teacher to do that and you should speak to an administrator about how uncomfortable she made you feel! She needs to understand everyone has a different blatter and she is obviously to concerned with being a tyrannical ***** to care about that! I am sorry you had to go through that, there are exercises that you can do that strengthen those muscles so you won't have to go the bathroom as much. They are called Kegel excercises and you might wanna look into that!

have you told your parents about this? You need to. That teacher has no right to not let you use the bathroom after telling her that it was an emergency. I volunteer at a elementary school, we have to let the children use the bathroom when they need to go. I bet if the teacher needed to go... she would. I'm sorry that is complete torture and humiliation. Tell your parents to tell the principle that they are going to talk to the superintendent. Trust me, the principle does not want you to do that.

Yes, you should have been allowed to go. She was VERY wrong, and your parents and the principal need to be involved in this immediately. It's actually bad for your bladder to put that kind of stress on it.

If that ever happens again, just run to the bathroom anyway, and then head straight to the principal's office to complain before even going back to class.

I think that is ridiculous that you were not allowed to go. I understand that rules are in place to prevent people from wandering the halls or loitering or disrupting classes (both your own, and others that can see you in the hallway), but there are exceptions. I once had to vomit from illness, and I got up and told my teacher that I needed to go to the bathroom, and he looked at me, knew I was serious, and let me go.

If you are a good student, generally a teacher will know that you are being serious and not joking. If you are a disruptive student, or a student who generally does not care about class, then the teacher is trying to be mean to you, within the rules, to punish you for not being a good student.

Either way, the teacher should not blindly obey the rules, she should realize that individual cases need to be addressed separately from the main context of the rules.

Yes! You should have been able to go to the bathroom. It was an emergency and it wasn't fair for you to be embarrassed because the teacher wouldn't let you go to the bathroom. Plus you could have gotten an infection if you had to hold it in for a long time.

you should report this teacher to the principal immediately.
She had no right to refuse your request. You had a legitimate reason to leave class. Some people have urinary/bowel problems that need attention at times. It's against most school policies, at least here for a student to be refused access to the restroom if they have to go.

Do NOT sit back and do nothing. Tell your parents & have them go w/you to tell the principal. You will be helping not only yourself but maybe another student who has health issues & is afraid to come forward if the same thing has happened or maybe it will assist someone & she will have to let them use the facility.

Absolutely! I cannot believe that any teacher would let this happen. Even if not when you first asked, at least when she saw you desperately holding yourself. You even started to pee your pants a little and still she did not let you go.

There is no reason you should have suffered the humiliation of peeing your pants in class. I can understand your embarrassment in telling someone that you peed your pants. Is there another teacher that you trust that you could talk to? Or the school nurse?

YES! That is a form of neglect, and your teacher was totally wrong on her part! Next time this happens, and hopefully there won't be a next time, just get up and leave. There is no reason for her to torture you like that, it's completely wrong. I suggest that you get your parents to consult your teacher about this horrible incident.. it's ridiculous.
