Does anybody ahve tricks/ways to fall asleep fast?!


Question: it takes me a while to fall asleep at night (about an hour). does anybody have any little tricks or ways that help them fall asleep faster? like counting or whatever?

I'm right there with you! My husband is asleep in about 5 minutes after his head hits the pillow...drives me crazy! I have everything in the world going through my mind and can't seem to shut it off. But, one night I thought..."go to sleep" and I kept saying "go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep....." and I was asleep in about 10 minutes! Now I do this every night and it works for me. I can't think about anything else while I'm chanting this in my head. Give it a try!

try reading

stick a boring film on try watching it without blinking soon enough your eyes wil get heavy and you'll drift straight off! :D

just keep your eyes closed...it will definitly help

stare at the cieling and look for patterns, words, pictures.

Keep it a little cooler in your bedroom, keep it very dark, and try to clear your mind (I always have trouble falling sleep because my thoughts are racing).

take a hot shower before bed when you are all nice and warm I think you fall asleep faster

Go to the grocery store and pick up some melatonin in the vitamin aisle. That is the natural substance in your body that helps you sleep. If you have trouble, you probably have low levels of it. Just take the recommended dosage, and give it 30 minutes

Try shots of Vodka

warm bath before you go to sleep or drink something warm

You have to close your eyes and pretend you're in a Oasis and where it's peaceful and then concentrate and in a minute you will fall asleep in a minute!

watch some reruns, it bores you and you fall asleep.

-I usually fall asleep when I'm watching T.V, something boring...golf perhaps?

get rid of all lights. i can't sleep if there is any light what so ever. i have to put a towel over my alarm clock. also, the sheep thing really works. visualise little puffy sheep jumping over a fence one by one...........zzzzzzz

i like to read. i often pass out on top of my book before i even realise it. then i'll wake up in the middle of the night to turn off the light and put my book away. har!

some nights when that doesn't work i'll take a shot of whiskey. i'm not exactly sure that's healthy, but i couldn't care less. the alcohol allows my brain to slow down and stop thinking about all the things that are keeping me awake.

Melatonin. But only take it if you can dedicate at least 8 hours to your sleep. It's not prescription strong, in fact it's a synthetic hormone that your body creates to promote sleep, but it works well and will help you to fall asleep faster.

Hi, not sleeping sucks so bad.. I learned a meditation technique that works great.
lie on your back... and breath in 3 or 4 deep breaths..then starting with your toes.. tense them up as much as you can, hold, then relax them. completely think about relaxing your toes until they are relaxed.. Then do your entire foot.. tense it, hold, then relax.. let your mind tell your legs to relax, until you almost no longer feel them.. do this all the way up.. hands, arms. torso.. I promise you , you will be asleep before your neck..

movies on Cd's in the dark. listening but having nothing to look at helps me. Maybe you can turn your head away from the T.V. and put it on something you have already seen.

Take deep breaths in and out (not like after you've been running but a little deeper than normal)

Just daydream with your eyes closed that makes me go to sleep faster sometimes

Drink warm milk before you go to bed

Yawn- even if you don't have to. It makes you tired.

exercise before u go to sleep- not like a real workout but just like a few push-ups and sit-ups

This might just be for me but if I watch TV wile laying down in bed I got to sleep a lot of the time at commercials.

It helps me when I look at a dull light.

rock urself back and forth- that make u tired

reading helps A LOT too especially if you read something boring, that u don't want to read

I usually eat dinner early (6:30 p.m.), so the the rest of the night i just relax and have a drink a cup of hot chamomile tea.I limit my t.v. watching to 1 hr. and read a semi boring book so i can fall asleep right away. If you have kids....That will be a diff. scenario.

when you want to sleep you should play music and i bet u,you will fall asleep or think of an happy place
