Marijuana is still in my system after 48 days clean and my THC levels keep going!
Question: I (truthfully) have not smoked marijuana in 48 days today, and I am still showing up positive on urine tests from my doctor. Not only are they showing up positive, but my THC levels are actually going UP instead of going down, regardless of my abstinence from the substance.
I was a heavy smoker for about 4 months (about an eighth per day, at least) and have not smoked in 48 days.
Why are the levels going up, and why is it STILL in my system???!!!

Well it probably means that because you smoked so excessively and so frequently for such an extended period o time that your body is going to take quite some time to eliminate it, perhaps many months. The standard estimate is something like 30 days but I've heard it can be much longer in some people and you were also using extremely high amounts. Not sure why your levels are increasing. If you are frequently around others who engage in this behavior I am sure you are continuing to intake the substance in airborne form.
Congrats on abstaining. Hope you continue. This stuff screws up your life.
If you're around people who are still using (especially if they smoke a lot) THC will continue to show up in your system. Since THC is stored in your body's fat cells it can take a while to pass out completely; more than 30 days isn't uncommon.
