Should my urine smell like the foods I eat?!

Question: I don't drink nearly enough, so I'm always somewhat dehydrated, so perhaps that's why... but for several months now I notice that my urine smells like the food I eat- from rice cakes to chicken noodle soup.
Isn't food connected more to bowels than kidneys/bladder?

that is not normal. first start drinking more water if your urine still smells then go talk with a doctor. Sweet urine is a sign of diabetes, and also is a sign of your body releasing ketones into urine. Both are not good!!!
hope that helps!

How can urine smell like rice cakes? Rice cakes have no odour.

thats not normal btw

Its not uncommon, and especially if you drink strong coffee

Ya, it's what you eat.

WOW YOU CAN RECYCLE YOUR DRINKS.. SAVE MONEY !!

not exactly sure i havn't gotten that far in my nutrition book but if ur urin smells like the foods u eat you should do two things, stop eating that food as much and drink way more water

umm definetly drink more water.
u should not smell ur food again after u eat it.
especially not in liquid form
eew

Urine should not have a bad smell and when it does it could be Urinary tract infection. You need to see a doctor.

If you're passing urine that already smells unpleasant, this may be a sign that bacteria are present in the urinary tract, breaking down urine before it leaves the body. If this is so, you may have an infection that needs treating. So you should go to the doctor. Good luck with everything!!

The only time your urine will smell different is when you eat lots of veggies like broccoli and asparagus. Otherwise, you need to make a habit of drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Your pee should be clear with no odor. It should NOT look like a sunset. lol

Bless you and good luck. :)
