Cause of ulcerations on tongue?!

Question: My tongue looks awful and I have NO idea why! I HAVE gone to doctors and still, they have no clue. They do say that it looks horrendous. It hurts so much! It is NOT an STD, I have not slept with anyone in ages, because I feel too sick to do so! Can digestive issues cause these ulcers??

Sounds like aphthous ulcers, but hard to know without an image. This can be a viral infection, drug side effect, or even a vitamin deficiency.

Or, have an evaluation done:

I was taking one of those drugs for people who have to frequently. The side effect is dry eyes and reduced saliva production. The reduced saliva meant that acidic foods had more of an effect than normal on the inside of my mouth. I got nasty ulcers from it. Avoid citrus, tomatoes, vinegar, colas, and any other hig acid food. Drink lots of water - not tea or coffee, has to be water - to keep the acid rinsed from your mouth. Brush your teeth and rinse for 30 seconds with listerene after every meal. The listerene will keep the bacteria killed out of the ulcers so they heal faster. No in between meal snacks. Avoid sugar, it doesn't cause the ulcers but it makes them worse.

Hope this helps. I hope you get better soon. I know how icky this can be.
