Headache/Dizziness when standing up.?!

Question: Sometimes when I stand up after sitting or laying down, I get a very sudden headache and dizziness, kind of similar to a head rush when you're hanging upside down. It doesn't happen all the time, but does happen at least a couple times a week. I'll stand up and instantly have a headache and be slightly dizzy for about 10-15 seconds. A few rare occasions I have also experienced tunnel vision with the headache and dizziness (no, alcohol is not invovled). Sometimes I'll stand up more slowly, which seems to reduce the effect, but it's still there. Seems kind of strange and I would like to get some opinions.

this has nothing to do with low-blood pressure

this is called head-rush. Our bodies have evolved to push blood from our feet back up the heart, against the force of gravity. whenever you sit down or lay dow, your body finds it easier to pump blood to your heart and head/brain. as soon as you stand up, the blood drains from your head back down to your feet and your body has to start the 'pushing blood' process again.
this happens to everyone, even me. it can be servere or just mild (for most people) depending on your build and body structure.

stand up slowely and thats about all you can do- but dont worry, it is completely normal!

low blood sugar. it happens to me all the time.

Have you had your blood pressure checked? I think you should go to the Dr's office. That's what it sounds like to me.Also have your blood sugar checked too.Good Luck!

low blood pressure. when you've been sitting down and then stand up, your heart has to beat faster to accomodate the exertion. if you get dizzy it means your heart has a hard time pumping enough blood to your brain upon standing. You should get checked out b/c this could signal something serious. The tunnel vision especially sounds worrisome.

I have the same problem. Drink lots of water.Every time you feel dizzy drink orange juice. This helps me.
