Why do we get sty's on our eyes? What can we do to get rid of them?!

Question: Styes are bacterial infections that lead to the obstruction of oil producing glands around the eyelashes or eyelids. This common infection or inflammation results from blocked glands within the eyelid

You can put a warm teabag on your eye for 15-20 minutes, believe me, I've done it, it works

OR Place a handful of fresh parsley in a soup bowl. Pour a cup of boiling water over the parsley and let it steep for 10 minutes. Soak a clean washcloth in the hot parsley water, lie down, put the cloth on your closed lids and relax for 15 minutes. Repeat the procedure before bedtime. Parsley water is also good for eliminating puffiness around the eyes.

"Eye Styes are caused by staphylococcal bacteria which infects the small glands situated on the base of eyelid hairs which soon becomes inflammed."

It usually clears up on it's own. If it doesn't and gets worse or infected visit the doctor for medicated eye drops/ointment.

uhh go to a doctor... hehe

Infected eyelash follicle. Savlon?

Old wives tale is to wipe the affected spot with a wedding ring. The idea was that it was a mark of the devil and rubbing with gold that had been blessed in church would get rid of it.

its kinda old wives tale but it does work, get a pure gold banded ring and rub the affected part of the eye (not the eyeball thro) -4 times aday and should be gone with in a week, i had one a few yrs ago and my granny told that to me and it worked, best of all its free, natural, and wont hurt, hope it helps and good luckxxxx

DON'T REALL KNOW WHY WE GET THEM BUT TO GET RID OF THEM I PUT A CLEAN WHITE WET RAG IN THE MICROWAVE UNTIL HOT BUT NOT TO HOT AND PUT IT ON IT. ALSO WHEN THE LITTLE WHITE HEAD OF IT SHOWS UP I POP IT WITH Q TIPS TO HELP DRAIN THE INFECTION IT GOES AWAY FASTER. THEY ALSO SELL A CREAM AT THE DRUG STORE TO HELP ASK FOR IT ITS CALLED STY EZ

I think they have to do with clogged tear duct or pore. The only thing that I have found to help is eye drops and constant cleansing with a warm washrag on your eye, but this still takes a few days to get rid of it.

This condition is referred to as "Blepharitis" and it affects the skin of the eyelids where the eyelashes grow (lid margins).

This condition commonly occurs when the tiny oil glands at the base of the eyelashes malfunction and this is when bacterial overgrowth occurs. Blepharitis doesn't cause permanent damage to eyesight.

Self-care is recommended by applying a warm compress over your closed eye for 10 minutes twice a day. Follow this with a moistened washcloth (warm water) with a few drops of baby shampoo and wash away any oily debris or scales at the base of your eyelashes. Rinse your eyelid with warm water and pat dry.
