I can't go to school?!?!?!

Question: So far this school year, i've probably missed 40+ days. I miss about two to three days a week and I've already gotten two attendance letters sent home.
The reson for this is I just cant get up in the morning. I have lots of troubles going to sleep at night and then in the morning my body is just too tired for me to get up. I don't take naps at night or anything. I try reading a book, taking a bath, drinking warm milk, bascially everything to go to sleep.
When I do end up going to bed at a decent hour every couple weeks and getting up in the morning, it only lasts a couple days before I have trouble again.
My mom is always yelling at me for it and I just feel like I have no control over it. It's basically runing my life and jeapordizing my chances of being a cardiologist and i'm only in 8th grade- not even in high school yet!
Do you have any suggestions/advice to help me?

Yes, you need to see a sleep specialist. They can test you to see what your brain waves are doing to interfere with your sleep, then recommend a treatment based on that.

Don't give up on school, you're not likely to get far without it, definitely not Cardiology.

have you been to see the doc.you could have iron deficiancy or something.is it just in winter cos it could be sad.its a hard 1cos i slept in this morning and just managed to get my daughter to school on time.get a medical just be sure your health is fine.ask your mum to make you get up.you could just need to get your body clock adjusted.this will take a while but try.

You are a teen and you have a different sleeping pattern than adults. Your body is going through changes and eventually this will change as you get older.
Ask your mom if you were a baby with Colic. Recently scientists have discovered a link between colicky babies and children who have an inability to put themselves to sleep. If you were colicky you were probably rocked to sleep a lot. This teaches babies that rocking or motion puts them to sleep and they never learn how to put themselves to sleep. Unfortunately this can carry on into teen and adulthood.
Getting enough exercise during the day has a big impact on your sleep as well.
Take heart that this probably won't last past your teens, and this is not abnormal for most teens. Keep trying things like warm baths, no sugar or exercise right before bed, and try dropping any drinks or foods with caffeine.

Have your Mom take you to the Dr. to find out why you can't sleep. Another option is to buy some Melatonin (it is made naturally by the body to help you sleep) use the Melatonin before you go to bed at night and see if you get better sleep. You might have some stress that you don't realize that is keeping you awake. I think your Mom will take you to the Dr. if you explain you can't sleep at night, I'm sure she doesn't want you to keep missing school. Talk to a school counselor about your inability to sleep at night, they can speak to your Mom if you are afraid to but you need to tell someone.

when i was in the 8th grade i had many problem with getting up in the morning and sleeping patterns... i think young teenagers deal with many sleeping disorders because of their growing bodies and hormones. i used to sleep walk allot around the same age too. i eventually grew out of it.

parents usually take it with a grain of salt because they chalk it up to teens being teens, bratty and irresponsible. if you think you have a real problem go and see a doctor. they may refer you to another doctor who specializes in sleeping patterns and disorders. tell your parents there is no harm seeing a doctor. if there is no problem no harm no foul... but if there is isn't it better that you found something you can fix then having to deal with something and having it affect your grades.

good luck.

you might be anemic go to your dr.
