Help.. about Allergy Testing?!

Question: My son has an appointment for allergy testing. I just wanted to know what the process is. Please do not badger me with the whole "call the dr and find out" because they may not have actually had the testing performed on them. I want to know what it feels like, how many times they'll poke him, etc... I want to be able to explain it to him. Thanks in advance for your answers.

they scratch the skin with a needle and drop a drop or two of liquid solutions that contain common allergens (they will first ask you under what circumstances you note a reacton, to narrow down the types of items the boy may be allergic to); if the spot reacts (gets red and/or itchy), that is something he is allergic to. mine was done on the forearm, I have heard also of the back being used.

My boyfriend is allergic to EVERYTHING. And he's been tested for it ALL.
It's a basic blood taking procedure. They insert one needle, one time. From that needle they will fill one or more vials with his blood, depending on how many things he is being tested for.
It's not anything horrid. Just one poke.

I went in and had a bunch of patches put on my back. They each contained different "popular" allergens. I had to leave it on for 4 days and then go back to have it read.

Not sure if all allergy testing is done that way or not.
