What you are taking is the medical term for Prozac.

This is a very potent SSRI (selective seretonin reuptake inhibitor) and can cause many adverse affects like nausea, insomnia, and anxiety. Anger and aggression however is not at all manipulated by this medication. This could be a different answer if you were taking other medications at the same time you are taking this one.

My main suggestion is to follow the medical professionals advice, and by no means stop taking your medication. I repeat, do NOT stop taking yor medication. The majority of patient relapse and major problems occur after patients stop taking their medication, including the peak point for patient suicide.

Take your medicine as instructed, and if you notice major problems occuring try to get a second opinion from another health professional.

I haven't heard of antidepressants "backfiring" to make you more angry... I think if your doctor changed your dose, then go with what your doctor says... but usually antianxiety meds like Ativan are used for someone who gets angry easily.
