Hey Willy

Since you are based in Brissy, why not go to the Triple J website:

http://www2b.abc.net.au/triplej/morning/...

You can ask your question online, or also ring them up at certain times when their drugs expert, Paul Dillion, is on the show.

Here's a link to their past shows:

They are even doing an Australian study on the question that you are asking at this link:

I am not sure if this study is current, so they may have even completed it, and you can ring them up on the number at the bottom or email this organisation to find out the results. Good luck and all the best with whatever you paths you take in life

your whole attitude about anti drug lectures is .. interesting.

anyway...

zoloft is an SSRI anti depressant. basically what it does is raise your serotonin levels to balance out.. depression is said to be caused chemically by low serotonin levels. so this medication makes up for the shortage. therefore your brain would not be used to producing it on its own. MDMA ecstasy is a cocktail of many different drugs. sometimes it contains speed, which makes you stay up. but mostly its "high" effect is because it makes your serotonin levels shoot through the roof. so your brain gets used to producing even less of it.

the only side effect I can imagine, is the comedown.. once this starts to wear off, youre left with very little serotonin levels, you might feel very depressed and tired, maybe even for days until youre evened out again.

yes the other avatar is correct, so to avoid the crash i would continue to take the antidepressant for at least a week. also try 5htp (hydrotryptophane) wich will help level your mood. you can buy it at the health food store.-blurey

I don't know about mdma, but I can tell you that zoloft keeps me awake. After 3 days of taking it and trying, meanwhile, to take care of my small children, I had to give up. btw, speed increases the dopamine levels in the brain, not the seratonin levels.

It can cause Serotonin syndrome. Kinda rare though.
